WIKI REFRESH Baraolt (Hungarian: Barót) is a town and administrative district in Covasna County, eastern Transylvania, Romania. According to the 2002 census, the population of Baraolt is 9,670 (9,271 Hungarian, 300 Romanian, 84 Roma, 15 others). Localities subordinate to Baraolt include Biborţeni, Bodoş, Căpeni, Micloşoara and Racoşul de Sus. The town was mentioned for the first time as a settlement in 1224.
In Baraolt, the Hungarian language has co-official status alongside Romanian. Most of the local population speaks Hungarian.
The town contains one high school and a provincial hospital with 101 beds. The hospital's specialties include internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics & gynaecology, and paediatrics; it also has an accident and emergency service.
