Demographics

According to the 2002 census, Romanians made up 78.49% of the population, Hungarians made up 20.06% and Roma made up 1.39%. The commune of Cătina is officially bilingual, with both Romanian and Hungarian languages being recognised officially and used in public signage, education, justice and access to public administration.
